The iF Design Award is one of the world’s most prestigious design competitions. This year, over 10,003 entries from 68 countries were submitted and evaluated by an international jury. In Taiwan, only 12 entries were selected in the Design Concept category, and Everest Textile is the only textile company among the winners.
This innovation also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
. SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation): Integrating environmental protection into product design from the source.
. SDG 14 (Life Below Water): Promoting circular design to protect marine ecosystems and support sustainability.
“O:CTION” is inspired by the connection with water. It features an advanced waterproof and breathable membrane using a proprietary solvent to replace traditional chemical processes, reducing environmental impact while ensuring skin-friendly and non-toxic performance. The fabric is also made from recycled ocean materials, turning marine waste into valuable resources.
In design, “O:CTION” goes beyond conventional functional apparel:
. Dynamic cutting inspired by fish tail movement, with asymmetrical and layered silhouettes.
. Cultural elements such as traditional indigo dye patterns and silver detailing, symbolizing the ocean ecosystem.
This award-winning project is a collaboration between Everest Textile and Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, combining industry expertise with academic creativity.
Through “O:CTION,” Everest Textile demonstrates its strong innovation capabilities and commitment to sustainability, strengthening its global competitiveness and leadership in functional textiles.
