FEG Reinforces ESG Commitment with Robust 2024 Philanthropic and Volunteer Initiatives

Amidst the global wave of sustainable development, Far Eastern Group (FEG) recognizes that an enterprise is not only an engine for economic growth but also a pivotal force for social harmony. Reflecting on 2024, FEG’s affiliates actively implemented ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles, internalizing social participation into their corporate DNA. Through robust volunteer leave policies and diverse philanthropic projects, FEG employees have passionately engaged in beach cleanups, support for the underprivileged, rural education, and international service, demonstrating remarkable volunteer momentum and fulfilling the commitment of "giving back to society."

To encourage volunteerism during work hours, Asia Cement Corporation (ACC) established the "Employee Volunteer Service Guidelines," granting three days of paid volunteer leave annually for participation in company-led or government-sanctioned charitable activities. ACC aims to be a growth partner for local communities, conducting impact assessments and engagement programs to fulfill its mission as a "preferred partner for sustainable green homes." Similarly, Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET) and Far Eastern SOGO also provide volunteer/philanthropic leave of 10 to 16 hours. In 2024, FET mobilized 680 volunteers who contributed 1,401 service hours. By integrating corporate efficiency into philanthropy, FET utilized online and offline platforms to extend care toward rural healthcare, youth protection, and migrant worker welfare. The spirit of giving has permeated every sector of the Group. Far Eastern SOGO’s employee volunteer hours reached 649 in 2024, a nearly 50% increase year-over-year. Programs like the "SO GOOD Junior Role Model Awards", “Home Meal Competition” and "Little Professional Experiences" promoted social harmony and cultural resonance. Far Eastern Department Stores (FEDS) has internalized philanthropy through its long-standing "Chain of Love" campaign. In 2024, employee-led "Volunteer Service Teams" conducted 52 activities, including beach cleanups, tree adoption, elderly care, and other activities. More about FEDS’s public welfare activities

Across Far Eastern New Century (FENC)’s global production hubs (Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Japan, and the U.S.), FENC recorded 3,709 volunteer hours. FENC maintains strong community ties by providing resources for community activities or fire drills; cleaning local environments, and supporting vulnerable groups. Far Eastern International Bank (FEIB) launched its third "Employee ESG Sustainable Reading" event. With 500 participants, the bank sponsored 500 hours of early intervention service funding for children with developmental delays through the Eden Social Welfare Foundation. U-Ming Marine Transport (U-Ming) focuses on maritime talent cultivation and gender equality. In 2024, U-Ming participated in the "Dragon Boat Festival Blessing" project, delivering hand-made zongzi to families in Hualien affected by the April 3 earthquake, and provided financial aid to children from families affected by domestic violence. Yuan Ze University (YZU) has integrated "Social Responsibility" into its core development strategy. Through its "University Social Responsibility (USR)" projects, students from various academic backgrounds undergo professional training to assist with home repairs for the elderly living alone and families with disabilities.
