Far Eastern New Centry Corporation has long maintained a good relationship with local communities at its business locations, engaging community organizations and providing resources, such as offering venues for community assemblies or fire drills. We help the underprivileged members of the community. We also conduct beach cleanup campaigns and help schools and local neighborhoods clean their environment, fully utilizing our strength to raise public awareness of environmental protection and recycling. In 2021, the volunteer hours among the volunteers of all business sites amounted to 4,136 hours. The followings are the key events held in 2022.

The year 2022 is marked by meaningful social engagement for FENC. To name a few, the Company designed an environmental education program focusing on circular economy for the fifth and sixth graders. Beginning in 2023, the Company is offering free lessons at elementary schools adjacent to FENC production sites in Taiwan. OPTC collaborated with the local environmental education association for the disadvantaged, visiting underprivileged families in Kuanyin District and presenting care packages. FEAV provided financial assistance for 424 children in two orphanages. Some of them are orphans, some are minority children, and some are from families under hardship. At APG Polytech, staff lent a helping hand to families in need by donating food during Thanksgiving.

Far Eastern Department Stores have launched the "Love Connection" campaign for a long time, calling on employees to participate in social welfare. Employees of each branch spontaneously form a one-day "volunteer service team" to show their love and participate in public welfare activities such as caring for the disadvantaged, visiting the elderly, and protecting the environment. In 2022, FEDS has invested in a total of 51 employee volunteer activities. Over the past four years, there have been 142 volunteer services and a total of 3,175 hours of activity. FEDS has implemented practical public welfare measures and created a better life with love and care.

• Pen Pal Project: Far EasTone employees are encouraged to collaborate with a rural elementary school in Hualien for a pen pal project. This initiative involves volunteering to become pen pals with elementary school children. Through the exchange of letters, the children will have the opportunity to enhance their writing skills and broaden their horizons beyond their hometown.
• Career Sharing Day: FET volunteers visited a rural elementary school in Hualien to organize a Career Sharing Day. The purpose of this event was to share their personal growth and career development experiences with the students through engaging activities. The aim was to inspire the students and broaden their horizons regarding future career possibilities.

FE SOGO volunteer club has adopted a designated area with the goal of "making the sea cleaner" since 2021. They engage in quarterly beach cleanups, measuring and analyzing the types, quantities, and total weight of marine waste collected. In 2023, the Taipei and Hsinchu store organized 3 beach cleanups with 102 participants.

FE SOGO  turned the volunteer leave into a social welfare leave and employees can apply for compensatory leave if they engage in social welfare activities outside of work hours.  A total of 69 times of social welfare leave has been applied, amounting to 409.5 hours, reflecting an increase compared to the previous year.
