FET Signed a PPA with CIP for 500-MW Taiwanese Offshore Wind Project

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has signed a corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) for its 500-MW Fengmiao 1 offshore wind project in Taiwan with local telecoms group Far EasTone Telecommunications.

The contract was sealed through CIP’s flagship Fund V (CI V). “Far EasTone’s commitment to this partnership highlights both its dedication to sustainability and its trust in CIP’s engineering and financial expertise,” the Danish infrastructure investor said on Thursday.

Fengmiao I will be located 35 km (22 miles) off the coast of Taichung City. Planned to be equipped with 33 wind turbines, the wind farm is expected to kick off commercial operations by the end of 2027. The project is set to become the first offshore wind project awarded in Taiwan’s Round 3 to enter the construction phase. (Image Source: CIP website)

Project financing is nearing completion, CIP said.

In late 2024, Taiwan-based wafer manufacturer Sino American Silicon Products Inc (SAS) and its renewables subsidiary Sustainable Energy Solution (SES) committed to procuring electricity from Fengamio 1 for 30 years.
