U-Ming Joins Taoyuan Xinwu’s Ocean Hakka Culture and Ecological Conservation Journey

Committed to extending its environmental protection and corporate social responsibility initiatives to local marine ecosystems, U-Ming Marine Transport Corporation (U-Ming) recently hosted the "Taoyuan Xinwu: Ocean Hakka Sustainability Day Tour" on July 4. The event drew enthusiastic participation from employees who visited Taiwan’s only coastal Hakka settlement. Together, they participated in a hands-on ecological fish fry release and experienced "beach seining" (Chian-Ku)—a century-old traditional fishing method that requires collective effort to haul fishing nets ashore. This activity not only reflects the ancient wisdom of coastal residents living in harmony with the sea but also mirrors U-Ming's core values of teamwork, collaboration, and moving forward together. To demonstrate the company’s solid support for social welfare and community engagement, all participating employees were granted fully paid "Volunteer Service Leave."

Beyond marine conservation, U-Ming integrated sustainable practices into daily life by promoting low-carbon dining and green consumerism. The team embarked on an ecological guided tour of the famous Xinwu Green Tunnel, enjoying a low-carbon, slow-travel experience on green bicycles to deeply appreciate the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Taiwan’s western coast.

As a global green pioneer in the maritime industry, U-Ming is dedicated not only to building an eco-friendly, energy-efficient fleet and introducing low-carbon alternative fuels but also to deeply embedding the DNA of sustainability into its corporate culture. Looking ahead, U-Ming will continue to drive diverse environmental protection and social outreach initiatives. Together with our employees, society, and the oceans, we will sail toward a green, sustainable, and prosperous blue future.
