As a leading global supplier of recycled polyester, Far Eastern New Century not only focuses on sustainable materials and the circular economy but also actively strengthens its talent and organizational capabilities. Facing challenges related to ESG, digital transformation, global supply chain restructuring, and succession planning, the company launched a nearly three-year “Mid-to-Senior Level Talent Development Program” in 2022 to cultivate the next generation of leaders with expertise in green manufacturing, international management, and business development.
The program is implemented in three phases: “Talent Assessment,” “Talent Management,” and “Talent Development.” First, the company conducted potential and performance assessments for approximately 600 mid-level managers, identifying high-potential talent through a nine-box grid calibration mechanism. Next, a succession planning system was introduced to align talent development with corporate strategy. Finally, a comprehensive “Assess-Learn-Practice-Validate” learning cycle was established through leadership courses, action learning projects, an internal instructor system, and team competitions.
The curriculum focuses on core competencies such as communication, collaboration, leadership, digital skills, and agility. The “War Wolf Project” serves as the flagship action learning initiative, challenging participants to propose solutions for real-world issues such as sustainable growth, smart applications, and cross-industry integration. This approach strengthens practical application and cross-departmental collaboration. Participants reported that the program’s content is directly applicable to their work, with significant improvements in project execution, cross-departmental collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Many participants have even proactively initiated cross-departmental collaboration mechanisms, driving the organization’s transition from traditional vertical management toward horizontal synergy.
Far Eastern New Century adopts a people-oriented approach; to date, this model has been expanded to its mainland China locations and will continue to be rolled out to overseas locations, including overseas markets such as Vietnam, the United States, Japan, Malaysia, and the Philippines, to establish consistent talent standards and a global succession pipeline across the entire group. This award is not only international recognition but also demonstrates Far Eastern New Century’s determination to regard talent development as a core strategy for the company’s sustainable competitiveness.
