FENC and Studio Smoll Win 2026 iF DESIGN AWARD, Redefining Sustainable Living with Circular Design Innovation
Far Eastern New Century (FENC), in collaboration with Taiwanese design brand Studio Smoll, has been honored with the prestigious 2026 iF DESIGN AWARD in the Product Design – Luggage/Bags category for the P+L Dual Backpack. This recognition celebrates the successful integration of sustainable materials, circular manufacturing processes, and contemporary design, further demonstrating Taiwan’s growing influence and competitiveness in sustainable product innovation in global green innovation.

Guided by the core principles of circular design, the P+L Dual Backpack redefines eco-friendly lifestyle products. At the heart of this innovation is FENC’s proprietary all-polyester leather made from recycled PET waste. The product utilizes upcycled polyester textile waste for the bag's fabric, paired with a polyester coating derived from recycled PET bottles. This innovative mono-material design greatly enhances recyclability. Complemented by premium European vegetable-tanned leather and refined craftsmanship. The backpack achieves an uncompromising balance of sustainability, aesthetics, functionality, and recyclability, showcasing the transformative value of sustainable materials in everyday lifestyle products.
