As Shangri-La Far Eastern, Taipei marks its 30th anniversary, the renowned hotel invites guests and visitors to partake in a year filled with exceptional experiences and celebrations.
Located in the heart of Taipei, Shangri-La Far Eastern, Taipei stands as a testament to the city’s transformative journey. When the hotel opened, it was one of the only towering buildings in Taipei. Today, it’s an integral part of Taipei’s skyline, celebrated as a historical landmark and host of countless memorable events, from weddings and birthdays to grand celebrations and vacations.
“Speaking with guests and hearing the memories they’ve created at our hotel is a massive motivation for me and our staff to keep providing quality experiences,” says Marco Vazzoler, the hotel’s area general manager. Shangri-La Far Eastern, Taipei stands out as the only hotel in Taiwan to earn a spot among the top five on Condé Nast Traveler’s prestigious list of Asia’s best hotels, a testament to its unwavering commitment to service excellence.
This year, the hotel is set to celebrate its anniversary with a grand party in the fall, encouraging guests to share photos of their memorable moments at the hotel with rewards for selected winners.
“We really want to take this moment to celebrate together with long-term patrons of our hotel, with exciting room and food and beverage offers,” says Vazzoler. “We see our 30-year mark as a chance to give back to our guests.”
Looking ahead to the warmer months, Shangri-La Far Eastern, Taipei is gearing up to enhance the guest experience with a series of culinary delights and technological innovations. The hotel’s renowned Dream Bar will transition into an Olympic-themed hub in July, allowing guests to enjoy the games and French cuisine in a memorable setting.
This summer, Shangri-La Far Eastern, Taipei is once again creating a family friendly “Summer Ocean Adventure” room package featuring kids’ facilities such as an exciting AR aquarium and fun-filled handicraft activities. Those looking for some splash won’t want to miss the Summer Poolside Picnic, organized every weekend afternoon at the hotel’s summer pool on the seventh floor.
In addition, the hotel is excited to host distinguished Michelin-star chefs from Singapore and guest chefs from Shangri-La Bangkok, bringing a taste of international cuisine to Taipei. Guests can look forward to authentic culinary masterpieces and cooking classes that promise to enrich their palates and culinary skills.
“We try to always surprise our guests with new exciting experiences,” says Vazzoler. “This includes menus and events, but also training our staff to constantly improve and change their habits in line with the changing time.”
One area where the hotel has committed to education pertains to sustainable practices. As part of its commitment to sustainability, Shangri-La Far Eastern, Taipei has introduced several initiatives, including replacing all in-room water plastic bottles with glass containers and soon using larger bottles for bathroom toiletries to reduce waste. Additionally, a partnership with BMW will offer in-house guests a complimentary use of an electric vehicle during their stay, highlighting the hotel’s efforts toward environmental conservation.
“Moving forward, I see sustainability as one of the main topics for our industry, along with usage of artificial intelligence,” says Vazzoler. Shangri-La is embracing technological advancements to enhance operational efficiency and guest experiences. “We will never use AI to replace the human touch that a hotel needs, but we can use technology in some areas to help us become more efficient.”
The introduction of AI and robot-assisted services reflects the hotel’s forward-thinking approach, ensuring that it remains at the forefront of hospitality innovation while maintaining the high standards of service that guests have come to expect.
As Shangri-La Far Eastern, Taipei looks toward the next decade, Vazzoler envisions a blend of tradition and innovation. The hotel aims to continue offering its guests an unparalleled experience, combining luxurious comfort with cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices. With a focus on personalizing guest experiences, Shangri-La will keep defining the essence of luxury hospitality in Taipei.
“This anniversary is not just about celebrating the past,” says Vazzoler. “It’s also our promise to stay committed to excellence, sustainability, and innovation and to invite guests to create more special memories.” As the seasons change, the legacy of Shangri-La remains timeless, ready to welcome guests to the next chapter of its history.
