U-Ming and WMO (World Marine Offshore A/S) jointly established U-Ming Marine Offshore Co. Ltd. and started the marine engineering transportation business of offshore wind power.

To enhance competitiveness and diversification, U-Ming Marine purchased one Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) named Starlight Venture.

Direct-shipping between Taiwan and China with nine vessels bearing the R.O.C. flag was approved. U-Ming was the first Taiwan marine transportation company approved for direct shipping to China. U-Ming was awarded a three-year contract.

U-Ming Marine Transport Corporation Xiamen Representative Office was established to set foot in the Cross-Strait marine transport market.
