Far Eastern Textile expanded its business horizontally by acquiring a factories, and changed its name to Far Eastern Textile Panchin Plant and Far Eastern Neili Textile Plant.
Oriental Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd. was a joint venture sponsored by Far Eastern Textile and Asia Cement. The joint venture’s plant was built in Xinpu, Hsinchu County, Taiwan. This was the first factory in Asia to produce the partially-oriented yarn of polyester filaments and to utilize PTA as a raw material to produce artificial fibers.
