U-Ming Transportation Corp. was renamed U-Ming Marine Transport Corp.., and thus U-Ming Marine became responsible for marine transportation and Fu-Ming Transportation Co., Ltd. became responsible for land transportation of bulk commodities.

U-Ming’s first Panamax-sized carrier was delivered and christened Cemtex Yuan with a 66,000 DWT capacity.

U-Ming Transportation Corp. contracted with China Shipping Building Co. to build Asia Cement No. 1, Taiwan’s first airtight, self-controlled, and self-loading/unloading bulk dry carrier . This marked the commencement of Far Eastern Group’s marine transport business.

Lei Tung Transportation Co., Ltd. was renamed Ya Li Transportation Co., Ltd.
