The award is to give commendation to those who have extraordinary contribution in new scientific area. The foundation continuously recruits fulltime teaching full professors at universities around Taiwan to be Y.Z. Hsu Chair Professor. This award includes a trophy and prize of one million NT dollars (NT$1,000,000) to every award winner.

Three Chair Professors will be selected from three categories: “Nano Science & Technology Chair Professor”, “Communication & Optoelectronics Chair Professor” and “Bio-medical technology Chair Professor” in Year 2007 with a total prize of three million NT dollars (NT$3,000,000).
