Google will move into the Taipei Far Eastern Telecom Park in New Taipei City in early 2020, writes the TaiPeiTimes.com citing developer Far Eastern New Century (FENC). FENC, a subsidiary of Far Eastern Group said Google signed a lease for one of the two major buildings in Tpark's second phase to provide space for its R&D into AI.
Far EasTone Telecommunications, FENC's telecom service arm, will occupy the other building and provide internet data centre services, the developer said.
About 2,000 new jobs will be created once Google and Far EasTone start operations in Tpark, FENC said.
After its move into Tpark, Google will make more efforts to push for an “Intelligent Taiwan” project, aiming to use Taiwan as a base for the company to create AI technology, the developer said.
The Intelligent Taiwan project, which was unveiled in March 2018, reached its goal of cultivating more than 5,000 individuals trained in AI and more than 50,000 digital marketers in 2018.
Google is also expected to partner with local innovations and cloud technology-based firms nearby to make possible its R&D efforts in AI development, FENC said.
