Retail Group Structure
The Far Eastern retail system includes the Far Eastern Department Stores, Pacific SOGO, Far Eastern A-Mart, citysuper, The Mall and electronic platform GoHappy. This system integrates department stores, hypermarkets, shopping center, supermarket and e-commerce, together owns 56 stores across both sides of Strait. The total sales surpassed NT $130 billion in 2013.
Founded in 1967, the Far Eastern Department Store is the only publicly traded chain department store company. It displays a dazzling array of merchandise and creates market trends and buzz with its in-depth expertise and marketing strategies. In recent years, Far Eastern Department Stores have been aggressively transforming and integrating such functions as shopping, entertainment, leisure, dining and culture, to offer customers a comfortable and relaxed shopping and holiday experience.
Pacific SOGO has always been a bellwether in local fashion circles. The Zhongxiao Store in Taipei sells such a wide range of merchandise that it is able to fulfill the shopping needs of all consumer groups and has consistently remained the department store with the highest sales per unit of floor area. The Fuxing Store in Taipei, which opened in 2006 brings in more than NT$10 billion in revenue annually, making it the most recognized name in Taipei City. In addition, Far Eastern Department Stores and Pacific Department Stores which have 7 stores in China, are leaders in fashion expenditure in China.
As for discount stores and supermarkets, A-Mart is among the top three discount stores in Taiwan, offering low price, high quality goods to satisfy the daily needs of consumers. City’super offers high-end products and fine cuisine to cater to those who demand high quality. City’super has become a bellwether among the high-end supermarkets in Taiwan.The Far Eastern retail segment’s City series shopping malls – Taichung Top City, Banqiao Mega City and Hsinchu Big City, successively entered the retail market since 2012. These malls have a total floor space of almost 200,000 ping (661,160 square meters), created themes with a brand-new merchandise mix and increased dining and entertainment store counts. They are earning great praise from consumers, have performed particularly well in terms of revenue representing a milestone in the Far Eastern retail segment’s entrance into the large shopping mall market.
