 In 1998, the Far Eastern Group formed c consortium Far EasTone Telecommunications with joint venture partner AT&T and other members. Far EasTone operates the world¡¦s first and largest fully integrated GSM dual-band network. Its top audio quality and caring services have won subscribers¡¦ trust. It is now the leading brand in Taiwan's mobile communication business.
Striving to provide innovative integrated services, Far EasTone offers a variety of value-added services to subscribers and provide applications of enterprise solutions. Far EasTone was granted a 3Glicense in 2002 and was Taiwan¡¦s first operator to launch WCDMA services in July 2005.
After acquiring KG Telecom in 2003, Far EasTone has captured a 33% market share and become the leading private wireless communications service provider in Taiwan. Far EasTone has also begun cooperating with Japan's NTT DoCoMo ¡V the world's leading global wireless communications enterprise.
 To futher integrate information and communication and to welcome the new broadband era, the Far Eastern Group has teamed up with Singapore Telecommunications to establish the joint venture New Century InfoComm Tech Co. (NCIC), brand named Sparq¡¯, began operations in March 2001.
Besides providing ten telecommunications services including international direct dial, domestic long distance, and line rental, NCIC Sparq¡¯ has also invested heavily in C2C international submarine cable, the APCN2 (Asian Pacific Cable Network), and VSAT small land satellites to ensure smooth information flow and communications quality. Ever since the introduction of submarine cable stations into Taiwan, Sparq¡¯ has completed its infrastructures of high-speed transmission backbone island-wide and high-quality 96-core fiber optics. The system provides businesses with the bandwidth they need for the transmission of vast amounts of data, and allows better and faster transmission of voice, data, and images.
