Sea/Land Transportation Business

The Far Eastern Group has invested in transportation services to better serve its customers' needs. After long-term developments, the Group can provide extensive sea and land transportation services.

The Far Eastern Group's transportation business started from its need to serve cement customers both in Taiwan and abroad, and eventually evolved from domestic land transportation to intercontinental marine transportation. The commodities being shipped likewise expanded from cement to bulk materials and industrial products.

U-Ming Marine Transport is Taiwan's largest bulk carrier engaged in the shipments of dry bulk materials including ore, coal, and grains. U-Ming Marine has a fleet of 30 bulk carriers including 11 Cape-sized, 11 Panamax-sized, 6 self-loading/unloading, 2 handy sized carriers, and 1 VLCC oil tanker. The company is also cooperating with Hong Kong ship owners to build 2 cape-sized bulk carriers and 1 Panamax-sized bulk carrier.

With a shipping capacity of over 2.7 million MT. U-Ming Marine Transport ranks asTaiwan's largest bulk carrier operating with a highly diversified fleet. The Company has been maintaining long cordial working relationships with major enterprises such as Taipower, ChinaSteel, India's MMTC, Malaysia's national power company TNBF, and Australia's BHP.

After establishing a Singapore subsidiary in 1994, U-Ming Marine Transport opened its second affiliated company in Hong Kong in 2002 and set up an operation head office in Taiwan. This highly competitive Company with modern fleet was awarded the International Safety Management code certification by the International Maritime Organization in 1998. In 2005, U-Ming Marine was selected as one of the "Best Under a Billion" companies listed in Forbes Asia. U-Ming was also winner of a Special Award given to the companies with the fastest five year earning growth as the overall champion of the 200 companies. In addition, U-Ming was Taiwan's only bulk carrier to receive "Asia's 150 companies with best performance" by Business Week Asia.

As to land transportation, Fu Ming Transport together with Fu Da Transport as its subsidiary company, is operating with 248 advanced vehicles of all types. Fu Ming's professional services include transports of not only cement, coal and industrial products, but also liquid chemicals by special vehicles.

Ya Li Transportation Co., Ltd. specializes in the ground transportation of cement products, and has its subsidiary in China. To cope with the growth market in China, the Far Eastern Group has established Wuhan Asia Marine Transport Corp. Ltd. in the city of Wuhan to engage in the transport of cement via the Yangtze River using exclusive self-loading and unloading cement carriers. With plentiful transportation experience and global management expertise, the Group is confident to further develop its prosperous transportation business.
