The textile industry is the most fundamental consumer industry. It is also the Far Eastern Group's starting business. The Group still considers the textile industry to be its vital core business and textile operations account for some one-fourth of the Group's total revenues.
In order to achieve global operations and to enhance synergy, the Group has established two major Fiber and Textile Business Operation Groups. Combining productions of Hsinpu fiber plant and Kuanyin plant in Taiwan together with those of Shanghai, Suzhou and Wuhan plants in China, Fiber Business Operation Group now enjoys an annual capacity reaching 1.6 million tons, making Far Eastern to rank among the worldˇ¦s five largest polyester manufacturers. With equal production on both sides of the Taiwan Straits and in view of global overcapacity of polyesters, the Company is actively developing specialty and high value-added products with cutting-edge technology as its core competitive advantage.
Textile Business Operation Group is now operating in Taiwan, Southeast Asia and Mainland China. Production facilities have long been established since 1964 throughout Southeast Asia in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Far Eastern Apparel (Suzhou) was set up in 1997. followed by Far Eastern Industries (Wuxi), Far Eastern Dyning & Finishing (Suzhou), Far Eastern Industries (Jiujiang), and Oriental Industries (Suzhou). Therefore, by 2008 Far Eastern is expected to expand into 600,000 spindles with an annual capacity of 90 million yards of woven fabrics, 45,000 tons of knitted fabrics, plus 2.2 million dozens of knitted and woven goods. Overseas revenues will exceed those of Taiwan. |
